august_bwAugust is Membership and Extension Month and and 1100erotaryeClub is helping RIBI Membership Development and Retention Committee (MDRC)  to develop E-Rotary in other Districts, e.g. Ireland, West of Scotland, East Midlands, Hertfordshire with others coming on stream in the South East and Wales.  EClub members are strongly encouraged to ‘meet’ our new members on the members Forum where each area has its own hub.

trussel trustDid you catch this Thursday’s guest speaker Mark Ward of the Trussell Trust?  While you are reading this update over your Saturday morning breakfast (except for Debbie Vance dining in Canada!) some of our members will be on their way to visit the Trussell Trust HQ before enjoying a offline picnic (so much more nourishing) and then guided tour of Salsbury Catherdral.  Read all about the amazing work of the Trust here

Shoe Box FillingeRotarian Debbie Vincent is launching her Shoebox challenge for this Christmas and needs your support. The aim this year is to fill 100 shoesboxes.  We already have a good start as Barclays Bank has agreed to fill 30.  Debbie will be having a filling shoebox day again soon.  Watch out for the date.

So what do we need?  If we have any knitters out there, scarfs, gloves and hats are always well received for any age.  It seems they get lots for small children but very little for teenagers upto the age of 18. Things like makeup, toiletries, perfumes, sportswear, writing materials, combs, mirror, deodorants etc are always popular. Household goods are always well received as well.  But anything is acceptable.  Just imagine never having received a present before what would you like? If you are able to help in any way it will be very much appreciated.  Contact Debbie to arrange delivery/collection of items or email info@1100rotaryeclub.org.

erotarybadgeAn exciting new Rotary Fellowship was launched this week on Facebook.  If you have an interest in learning and sharing more from other eClubbers around the world then why not give it a try.  With no cost for membership it offers the opportunity to:

  1. Discuss ideas and share resources for E-clubs
  2. Facilitate and encourage the formation of new E-clubs.
  3. Work towards building a better understanding of E-clubs and dispelling misconceptions
  4. Develop new strategies for E-Clubs and long term planning.
  5. Discuss membership strategies and related issues.
  6. Encourage partnerships and joint projects between E-clubs and traditional Rotary clubs.
  7. Provide discussion areas for informal fellowship and serious discussion among the members.
  8. Work together to encourage better goodwill and friendship among E-clubs.
