Rotarian Kevin says as you may know my son Max and his friend Jamie are doing the Scumrun Rally around Europe in May. For more information about the Scumrun

They are doing this for a great cause on behalf on Sparks Charity which helps the much needed cause of Children’s Medical Research. Their fundraising efforts before, during and after the Scumrun will help Sparks in their mission to help more babies be born healthy and stay healthy. Children’s medical research is desperately under funded but there is some great work going on across the UK and Sparks funding is vital in helping this work continue but there is always the need to help more.

They have to do 3000 miles in a car that can cost no more than £500! They are doing this with over 100 other cars when they all set off from the launch party on the 3rd of May at Thruxton Race Circuit to an unknown destination!  It is going to be on Sky TV and YouTube so get your donations in and you can watch them spread the word and raise more money on top of yours to help children’s medical research.

Sparks, the children’s medical research charity, is dedicated to funding research into conditions affecting mothers-to-be, babies and children. Our vision is a world where every baby is born healthy and stays healthy.

Since 1991, Sparks has committed over £20 million into pioneering research projects across a wide spectrum of medical conditions including childhood cancers, cerebral palsy, premature birth and spina bifida.

The research funded is across the whole of the UK with many of our medical breakthroughs having a global impact. We only fund research that is intended to have a practical and positive impact on the lives of babies and children.

The District 1100 eClub is sponsoring this challenge to the tune of £50 so our logo can be seen wherever the car travels,  plus for others we have come up with the ability to purchase one of the Spots on the Car at £5 per spot and have your name on it.

If you would like to sponsor a Spot, to find more information Max has set up a Just Giving page, please leave your name or message on the comment section so we can pass it on to Max or if you would prefer to keep your donation private send us an email instead at info@1100rotaryeclub.org.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Please help the District 1100 eClub sponsor this excellent endeavour by  Max Leaning.

Hi all, I have no idea if I this is the right place for an update, so please accept my apologies in advance! Max and Jamie set off today in the car covered in bubbles. They went to Thruxton to register with about 100 other cars. They have gone as Chavs, in shell suits, baseball caps and bling. Max has called me saying he has just had tea with smurfs, bat man and robin and men dressed as women flight attendants, driving a hearse , in addition to other unmeantionables! So far they have raised £787.00 for the Sparks children’s charity. I think they are all off to France this evening to start the race. Kind regards. Kevin L.
